SurCode for Dolby® Digital Stereo Encoder and Decoder
MASI’s SurCode for Dolby Digital Encoder gives you the ability to encode AIFF or WAV files into the Dolby Digital format. The SurCode for Dolby Digital Encoder is the perfect way to integrate the Dolby stereo format into your existing workflow. Unlike other encoding formats, Dolby Digital is the most widely used stereo codec for consumer distribution.
The audio track of a DVD-Video consumes a large amount of disk space. For example, two hours of stereo audio, at 48 kHz 16 bit, uses nearly 1.4 GB of a DVD’s 4.3GB total available space. Dolby Digital encoding is an excellent option for audio on a DVD-Video disc because it reduces the size of the source files typically by a ratio of 8:1, yet still achieves excellent sound quality. SurCode for Dolby Digital can free up considerable space on the disc to allow for either more video and a longer running time or, higher bit rate video for better image quality.
